Given reports of cooler weather in Caithness, here are some pictures from a recent trip to a wonderful location near the desert town of Palm Springs, California.

It is a large site on the south side of town called "Living Desert" and it is a museum and botanical garden, housing thousands of species of desert plants and animals in a natural environment.

For those of you feeling a bit of a chill, the high temperature today is forecast to be 47° C.

One last one from outside of Palm Springs. Just west of town there is a massive wind farm that has been there since at least the 1980's. The geography makes a natural funnel through a mountain pass, and the natural weather of this part of the world means a strong sea breeze blows every evening just about sunset.
