The ruined cottages look familiar Tugmistress - I took some photos there in March, before that distorted tree sprouted leaves....

haha very nearly the same spot to by the looks of it!
nice one astro, your B&W turn out better than mine, i guess i just don't like B&W enough to make it look right

I think the harsh lighting helped make the B&W conversion work reasonably well on my shots of the cottage & tree.

I rather like your colour version too - it's warm tones paint quite a different scene to the B&W version. It's a pity there's a distracting diagonal shadow in the foreground though.

That's the shadow of the hedge :( it was getting on in the evening when i went there, i think about 8.30pm or about that.

Interesting looking location, nice evening light and I love the shape of the tree.
The black and white photograph needs the contrast to be increased in the sky.

Looks great in black and white, the tree without leaves is really dramatic.

Cool cottage shot Tugs is shame about hedge shadow right enough. Like shadow created by tree over the roof tho - quite spooky even though a pretty lookin night!
