we recently booked a holiday to Cyprus for one week in the middle of July through the travel agents in Wick and got a good deal. It was cheaper than any deal that we had seen on the internet. We were most impressed and would use them again.

Just returned form a weekend at Craig tara ayrshire.
it was only £140 for 2 adults and 3 kids with meals included.for the weekend.
Glasgow is nearby and there are loads of attractions in Ayrshire.
Would heartily recommend it if your wanting a cheap family holiday.

ive had alot of people recommend wick travel agents for the most competetive prices, I will definately be going in to look into booking our next holiday. I would much rather use a local firm.:D

We always book our holidays well in advance. We booked our January 09 holiday to Margarita Island back in January of this year. Makes the paying for it all the easier, plus it means we can afford a few extra luxuries like premium class seats.

As for the travel agents in Wick, I have no experience of booking through them. I did have an embarrassing encounter in there though - where I come from we could walk into a travel agents and help ourselves to unlimited brochures, in fact they'd be thrust at you and for me, that is one of the best parts of choosing a holiday. I went to the agents in Wick when choosing this holiday, picked up an armful of brochures and didn't really think too much of the glares as I added more to my tally. Just as I was leaving though I was asked if I would bring them all back once I'd finished with them.
I was soooooooooo embarrassed. lol. I can understand the reasoning behind it and I assume it's something they ask everyone???? But if I'd seen a sign telling me I'd have to bring them back I'd have either got a hell of a lot less or gone online to order them. Travel brochures are certainly not worth taking back after our family has fought over them and drawn circles and stars round favorites. Eek!

I've used this site three times and always got a good deal, and will be using them for my winter holiday: http://www.bookableholidays.co.uk/

I would advise you to call them though rather than book online, the staff,( so far) have been very helpful and you'll usually get a better deal.

I've regularly booked holidays online, but for my last holiday I went to arcade travel. I found it a lot less hassle and cheaper than I'd seen online

I'm off again on Saturday, but booked with Thomsons. I keep kicking myself as I'm sure I'd have got a cheaper holiday through arcade travel, I just didn't have time to go :(

Will be going there next time I need to book a holiday!

We go away quite often, find a cheap flight on here: http://www.itravelnet.com/transport/lowcostairlines/europe.html (http://www.itravelnet.com/transport/lowcostairlines/europe.html) then use this: http://www.hotelclub.com/ (http://www.hotelclub.com/) to book our Hotel.. done this for Prague, Tallinn, Budapest, Vienna, Athens, Berlin, Warsaw, etc (but mostly Venice out of season)..

Yes, I agree. Best bet - get some cheap flights, then either book your hotel or self-catering place wherever you're flying to. Save a fortune. Try www.holiday-rentals.co.uk (http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk) (great self-catering places, often with pools - cheaper than a hotel)

I have booked through both Arcade and the Internet. For the last five years it has been a case of booking budget flight and then a hotel direct on the net or phoning then hotel. The price has been great. Last year I price both sources for the same resort. Doing as described above won hands down. I never accept the first quoted price for accommodation or insurance. Shop around and as for a better deal. The secret with the buget airlines is to book early but also check different airports. The price from Edinburgh and Glasgow can vary substantially on the same day with the same airline but it is not always consisent which will be cheaper for any particular day. Checking is easy on the airline website. Also prices vary thoughout the day and the week. I usually try for the second flight of the morning and usually a Tuesday or Wednesday as I find those times and days convenient and generally the cheapest.

By booking direct for flights and hotel I have saved £350 over the next best price for my summer holiday through internet travel agent.
