Another patient in Caithness has succesfully undergone a kidney transplant, great news. This is the third transplant in Caithness this year. We are very lucky. Just shows that organ donations do come up north even though a lot of people thought it never happens up here. It does.

No surgery like that can be done in wick, only in specialist hospitals like edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasow Infirmaries.

It does.No disrespect to you Fran but you can see how the statement I have underlined and highlighted could be mistaken for meaning the operations were carried out in Caithness general. Getting Back to the thread, I am glad these people have had the chance given of a better quality of life.

Glad the operations went well, wherever they were carried out.

We regularly have to travel to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, (every eight weeks for the past two years) for my OH`s cancer clinic. It is a very long drive (six hours at least, even when the roads are clear) and neither of us are getting any younger. The appointment is always 9am and we are usually out by 9.15 as the Consultant is always so overbooked, but it is impossible to put a price on decent healthcare. Thankfully his next appointment is October, so a bit longer between visits now as cancer still in remission.
