I miss all the fun.
I was down in South Wales when it was spotted but heared nothing about it untill today.

Just looked on 'The Sun' website for the story, as I believe they broke it.

http://dailynewspaper.co.uk/contents/nav/top1nav.htm

Lovely pictures showing us what a UFO and a helicopter might look like.....

Compare the Suns version with the report on BT's news web service

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080620/tod-britain-police-ufo-offbeat-6058bda.html

Interesting report from the helo crew, unfortunately given the usual half-witted tabloid treatment by the Sun from a "source" (in other words, we'll liven it up and attribute it to a fictional witness). Prats.

Anyway I think it was the ghost of Dylan Thomas....

I know i like a laugh but ill swear to god that I seen one when I was a youngster.

Me and my best mate went to New Quay in cornwall camping with his mum and dad. One night we were woken with this kinda rumble and we looked outside the tent.

Up in the sky there it was, it was kinda bowl shaped with loads of different colours going round it.

I know I was young and I havnt got vids or pics to prove it but Im clear to this day what we saw.

Always said to myself, were here so why shouldnt there be something else out there..........i reckon its just a selfish opinion that people say there is only us. Its a big place out there!!!!!

proof or no proof.....we're not alone!!!!

It is a big place out there in space right enough and there is a high probability of life on other planets but I think the phenomenon of the ufo is just wishful thinking as in is this all there is in this life, I think as a race we are lonely, isolated and need these stories to give us hope.

I would not disbeleive or rubish what you may have seen.
However I would not beleive unless I saw it with my own eyes. (Sober)

However I would not beleive unless I saw it with my own eyes. (Sober)The space time continuum has been ripped apart and these interdimentional beings have found a way into our dimension, watching, ever aware of the developments in technology that the people of earth have made and the steps they have taken backwards in the fight between darkness and light. Chaos will reign on earth until the next step in the evolution of our understanding of our existence.

I too have seen something unexplainable when I was a young loon in Orkney...I think I started a thread on it in the past...you can take the 'Proverbial' if you like, It's no skin off my nose. In fact it is just what THEY want you to do...narrow minded and ignorant rubbishing, ridiculing and abusing of anyone's reports, experiences and opinions only serves to make others avoid talking about their own experiences...

If you can find it, download a video of an alien appearing in Mexico and reaching for a young lad kicking a football...filmed with a mobile...it is really quite spooky and realistic...also the reporters and scientists say that there is a residual radiation in that area that is unlike anything recorded...

Here is the video clip, the one I saw was shown on a UFO seminar DVD...and explained in far greater detail than this Youtube clip...

I'm the same as Octane and seen "something" when i was at camp in Scarborough. I was about 10 and there was about 10 of us watching 2 orange lights bouncing around the sky quite a few miles away. This was about 9pm inthe summer so it was just getting dark. But what gave us the fright of our lives was the 2 Harrier Jets that flew from behind us straght towards the lights.
As soon as the jets got close the lights just streaked across the sky ( not in the nude lol ) and vanished. Weirdddddddddddddd

And no mushroms or hallucinogenic were consumed in the making of this story.

yuckkkkkkkk never trust fungus !

My husband and I returning one night from a trip to the cinema spotted what appeared to be a large cigar shaped object in the night sky. We stopped and watched it for some 10 minutes. It had a strange orange glow, we have never satisfactorily explained the phenomina but are inclined to the idea that is was some form of refracted light as it was 11.00pm and there was alot of low cloud over the city.

A lot of sightings of UFO's has been discribed as cigar shaped objects.
A mate of mine goes to all the conventions and is convinced of other beings in the universe. As I have already said I would never rubbish the idea ,but would need to see one for myself.

If there is life on another plant then I hope to God we, as a race, never get to set foot on it. We can't co-exist as humans on this one we call home without ruining it so I don't see us being much of a success at intergalactic relations either.

I agree Jox...

I think the only reason these UFOs dont make real and solid contact is the fact we as a race are too barbaric and would most probably turn on them...so I think they Watch us...why? Who knows...
Whether or not the USA have crashed UFOs is another matter too..LOL

so question is is there really anything out there, part of me thinks mayby there is, as there are so many planets surely there must be a life form on at least on of htem, if not where did et come from [lol][lol][lol]

I agree with Jox and James - imagine the reaction here if contact was made. As to them watching us - well perhaps we are a soap opera in a far off galaxy or Nature on Earth Watch with their version of Bill Oddie

Strange things are out there.....

I was coming home from the pub a couple of years ago when I saw a strange red light glowing and moving towards me at a walking pace.

I stopped to observe it and it still kept coming at a slow pace. As my eyes adjusted to the low light, I could make out a long cigar shape with the strange glowing light beaming out from the end of it.

What really spooked me was the fact that is was a lot smaller than I expected alien ships to be. It was only about 6" long and appeared to have crash landed in the mouth of a man walking towards me!

There was still smoke coming from what was obviously the red-hot engine end. Presumably the tiny aliens had put there craft into full astern to try and reverse out of the gentlemans mouth and were burning out their main thrusters in the attempt.

The gentleman was completely unfazed by this oral invasion and even nodded and said "Good Evening" without even mentioning the space travellers in his gob.

My God, with the old Bulldog Spirit still showing through in chaps like this, we need never fear alien invasions!

Take that you (smaller than expected) evil alien fiends! You will never steal our minds or our underpants!

Crikey, that remonds me of the excellent trilogy by Brian Aldiss.

Has anyone else read 'Helliconia Spring?' or the Summer and Winter follow-ups?

Pah! You philistines.

I'm not really into 'Sci fi' books. But, Aldiss created a whole planet - Helliconia - geography, climate, evolution, politics, religion and war and follows it through a Great Year consisting of Spring, Tropical Summer and Ice Age Winter (about 800 of our years, if I remember rightly).

All this is being secretly viewed by a large space station containing a few thousand humans orbiting the planet and beaming back information to Earth - hence my intitial reference.

Absolutely stunning piece of work, well worth a read.

The Helliconia Trilogy is a series of science fiction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction) books by Brian Aldiss (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Aldiss), set on the Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth)-like planet Helliconia. It is an epic chronicling the rise and fall of a civilization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization) over more than a thousand years as the planet progresses through its incredibly long seasons, which last for centuries.
The trilogy consists of the books Helliconia Spring (published 1982), Helliconia Summer (1983) and Helliconia Winter (1985).

Season's that last for centuries!-I'll have some of that. Maybe then I'll get the all-over tan I've missed so far this year.
