Actually, looking at those pics, I'm not so sure now. Those finches don't look very green...

i know lol in some lights the are almost a colourless grey but then you get a flash of the yellow on the wings and tail :D

Well, according to the bird identifier, that middle one is a juvenile goldfinch...

yeah the browner one in the middle is probably a female or possibly a juvenile but still definitely a greenfinch lol :lol:

Super pics Sapphire! I have finally managed to tempt a Siskin into my garden with some niger seed. I'm pretty certain he brough his baby with him the other day too - it's markings were similar to a sparrow, but notably sand and black. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to snatch a pic, and it's not been back since. :(

As for the greenfinches, I counted fourteen (adults and babies) hoovering up feed from my lawn this morning - they even managed to outnumber the sparrows! Gorgeous :lol:

I was going to say that the middle one was a juvenile goldfinch but saw you had already identified it. I got a picture of a pair of adult goldfinches tonight on my bird feeder but will upload them later

We've always had geenfinches but this week a siskin turned up as well, as captured by the head gardener........
