If your wife or husband had been found guilty of trying to kill you, would you forgive them?

I personally would not, no matter what the circumstances. So was she mentally ill or did she think she could get away with it and be financially better off into the bargain?

She was in a violent realtionship in her first marriage but not with this lad so she has no excuses .. none. She did it for money and not on a whim, it was totally premeditated. I hope she has a 20 stone girlfriend called "Big Morag" by the end of the week who specialises in unusual "demands".

If it was me I would have done everything to get her sent down for as long as possible, all this guy is is the male equivalent of the battered wife that keeps coming back to a violent partner. I could understand if she was a looker but she has a coupon that could sour milk.

Personally I hope he bags himself a 20 year old exotic dancer from all the publicity and sends her the photos of the two of them in the Maldives, all paid for by selling his story to a gullible paper.

Best of luck to him in the future, he will need it as she will be out in 3 and a half years if she is good, the seven year sentence was a joke.

Normally I would side with the woman but in this case no. The murder was premediated. If it had been carried out because she was being abused by her husband in some way then that I could understand. But in this case it was purely for financial gain.

Quote from the nearly murdered husband: "Hopefully we will have a bright future together."

Blimey, it looks like it's not just her that's a bit crazy!:confused

Forgiveness is one thing, but I certainly wouldn't be sticking around to spend any more time with a spouse who had hired a hit man to kill me - he must be mad, or sad, or perhaps both.

I can see it now, she gets out and does kill him, love is a strange thing indeed.

Forgiving is the healthy thing to do, so I would try to forgive -- once there was a huge distance between us.

Seems to be a regular thing nowadays.

Maybe he can forgive her but dont think I could sleep at night especially with one eye on her and one hand on a gun in case she tries again ;)
Whatever happened to the good old days of rolling pins? ;)

He'll stand by her but for the life of me I don't know why, maybe he does truly love her and believe's she is ill. She obviously didn't love him enough to work out their problems together or she wouldn't have attempted to have him murdered.

I forgave my ex-wife for the way she treated me, although it was in different circumstances. I had to because I didn't want to live the rest of my life feeling bitter and twisted, and the result of that allowed me to move on and also be a better person because of it.

Similarly, I think it shows a strength, not a weakness, of his character that he can forgive her, however had my ex tried to murder me then I don't think I could forgive that.

I have been taught to forgive, but this one threw me a bit. I believe Joxville statement of showing strength is right on. I guess that's the reason I was taught by my mother and now my wife agrees that forgiveness is the best thing to do.

Yup, absolutley the best way .. lifes too short to be bothered with people who drag you down (although trying to have you killed is another thing altogether), my ex put me through the mill but life does that isnt it ??, she still gives me jip and is extremely annoyed that this is how I see a relationship that produced two kids and admittedly some good times .. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8O0r_U2fG-I .. its her having a bad time now and me that is going from strength to strength, Karma ?? .. You bet .. ;)

I too would be sleeping with one eye open every naptime :confused forgiveness is one thing, offering yourself up as a sacrifice for a 2nd time is another.
