A former Policeman who was awaiting trial for Child Pornography offences was stabbed to death over the weekend (see link):-

Obviously it is wrong for someone to take the life of another person and the man had not been tried and found guilty. I just wonder if other people find it difficult to feel sorry for someone who has committed such crimes, or whether they see all people the same way and can forgive the offences. I must add that the man in question here had also been charged with creating images as well as possessing them.

A victim of the stabbing epidemic sweeping this country? Maybe. But one finds it hard to feel that his death is a great loss. According to the Daily Mail,http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1025142/Police-officer-accused-child-porn-offences-stabbed-death-outside-home.html of the images on his computer 52 were classed Level 4, and 9 were Level 5 the worst level possible. I hope that maybe all paedophiles, or alleged paedophiles, are worried and looking over their shoulders. Good riddance!

I hope whoever perpetrated this is caught, convicted and punished to the full extent of the law.

Mob mentality is here and now, folks. We are evolving in reverse in this blasted country of ours. But how do we put a halt to the madness?

This person was awaiting trial, but yet again on the org he has been tried, sentenced, and hung out to dry, Talk about a Kangaroo court...sheeezz.
I know nothing about this person or the facts of the case other than what I have seen or heard on the Media, so what if the Media were wrong?

Before we head off in the wrong direction here, I have already said it was wrong for this man to have been stabbed and that he had not been tried for the alleged offences.

What I am asking about is whether people, in general, have difficulty in feeling sorry for those in society who DO commit heinous crimes against their fellow humans.

I am not looking for "Hang em high" comments, I am asking whether people can TRULY forgive ALL offences? It is easy to SAY the "right" thing on a forum. We can all talk of everyone having equal rights under the law. I just wondered if people, who have thought it through rationally and calmly, still have a problem forgiving a terrible offence?

I just wondered how many people in our world could truly forgive? Could YOU shake Ian Huntly by the hand and tell him you forgive him? For me, that would be what true forgiveness would be about, rather than all too easy, words on a forum.

No, that is simply using a scenario to provide a platform for a question. In addition, asking for other peoples opinions does not reveal my own opinion.

Have you got an opinion to add or are you simply looking to pick holes?

If so then I must say that your first post was very confusing and misleading.

I think forgiveness would depend on the severity of the crime.Personally I would find it extremely difficult to forgive anyone who had committed a crime against a child, but I dont think it warrants someone taking the law into their own hands to punish them. I believe that killing them is to good for them let them spend the rest of their lives rotting in jail being reminded daily what scum they are is the best way to deal with them.

Also, if you don't like holes being picked then try wording your posts a bit better unless you are one of those that advocate guilty until proven innocent.
