Went to Schloss Lichtestein today to try out my new camera.
Here are some of the results.
Before you look at the pics you should know something about this castle.
Here is a link to the boring official version:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichtenstein_Castle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichtenstein_Castle)

Now here is the truth.
Duke Willie von Urach had the castle built so that he could play medieval knights with his mates.
He told Frau von Urach that it was a hunting lodge, but I doubt that anyone did much hunting from there.
The main room on the ground floor is called the drinking room. There are steps leading from this room directly into the wine and beer cellar. In this room you can see a beer mug called a “Kampfstein” (Battle Mug). This thing holds 5 litres. Believe me, the lads that played here make the wannabe macho’s who boast about the yard of ale look like a load of wussies.

Now to the pics.

Dellwak, your photos are fantastic! :) That new camera was a good investment! I'm delighted you took photos of and from Lichtenstein Castle, as that is one we never got around to visiting whilst in Germany. I'm kicking myself now that we didn't! :confused If we're in that area again, we'll definitely pay it a visit!

You wouldn't want to take a wrong turn on the way to the loo!!! It would be a long way down (but quick).
