I realise that the original thread has been closed. So I am closing this right away. Dirdy weeker had a link in the original thread showing a story that the Co-op had pulled out of a bid for Somerfield. That story was almost THREE YEARS OLD. The Co-op HAVE bid for Somerfield and it was still ongoing three days ago, see link:-

It seems that the Coop don't want/need ALL the Somerfield stores and hope to sell SOME to their rivals.
This post was for correcting purposes only, not to start an argument. I thought it was worth clarifying the age of Dirdyweekers link in case some people get the wrong impression.
