Wonder if any know where I might get fresh mussels for fishing?
It is only for a few hours worth so don't need to buy too many. Any ideas?
I reckon Scrabster harbour may be likely but don't know if they would supply me with a handful of mussles.

Also I'd like to dig some lugworm/ragworm. Are there any decent places about?

As always, any info would be very much appreciated. ;)

Thanks.

best of luck [lol] tonyYou can get mussels off the rocks at low tide in some areas. They go nicely with a good whisky on the rocks.

You'll find a few small mussels at Thurso river failing that it's a trip up west or buy some from the fish shops.

I used to get mine along the rocks between Scrabster and Thurso at low tide. Limpets can also make a good bait for dabs. If I remember rightly, there were some lug out at Dunnet beach.

Tight lines!

You remember rightly, Ricco. Up at the East end of the beach.

There's a few mussels on the rocks in the same area.

Seeing as the beach ran North-South every time I've been there, I find that a confusing instruction. How about saying Dunnet or Castletown end?

Personally never had any faith in mussels or limpets. I felt that herring strip was a very good bait, but then I fished with a wannie at longberry
