I have just finished reading a book called “The Seeds of Change” by Henry Hobhouse.
I can highly recommend this to anyone who has the slightest interest in world history.
It is about 6 plants that affected the history of mankind. They are Quinine, Sugar, Tea, Cotton, Potato and Coca.
Did you know that sugar is an addictive drug and the method of producing and distributing it was just as violent and deadly as it is with cocaine today? I didn’t.
This and many other nasty little facts are all included in this well written book.
Read it.
