China has banned all production and sale of Chinese medicine containing tiger bone and increased legal penalties for smuggling tiger parts.
However, China’s commitment to ending tiger trade is wavering. At the June 2007 meeting of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), China presented a document that stated that the trade ban had not worked as demonstrated by the fact that wild tiger populations were still in decline.

there is a petition to sign on the link site....help save these beautifull animals

Saddly not only is poaching a real threat but also the loss of habitat.
Despite all the best efforts of India, The Russias China and the smaller countries that they are native to, they are constrained by commercial requirements and the safety of the populace who live withing the tiger ranges.
From my understanding despite the fact that these animals breed well in captivity, unlike other big cats the re-intoduction to the wild is not a realistic programme.
Unless there is a massive financial and educational programme put into place supported by the whole world then these most magnificant of cats could well be extinct in the wild in my life time.
It can be done as it was with The White Rhino and surely these cats need all the help they can get. The world with out them would be a lesser place.
