A BLIND man was stranded miles from home after being prevented from boarding a train – because his guide dog "might have fleas".

Some jobsworth on a power trip no doubt.

Methinks someones backside is gonna hurt (quite rightly) when this is investigated.

My husband's uncle is 86 and blind, he uses the train system all the time without a problem and until recently was up and down between York and Dundee like a yoyo.:D

He has always enjoyed the best of treatment from rail personnel and is saddened by this event.

Hopefully his experience is more typical.

That is utterly horrendous. Guide dogs are allowed in shops and I have never heard of them being refused in case they have fleas. I hope the bloke gave him a flea in his ear for this....grr

The folk that work on that train want to be ashamed of themselves. The dog is cleaner than the trains.

I agree, absolutely horrendous and how humiliated must this guy have felt at being treated in such a manner. If memory serves me correctly, in a newspaper report the station manager inferred that he was playing the sympathy card with his blindness and looking for special treatment because of it.[disgust]
