This Puffin was photographed from Swiney Hill Viewpoint Lybster.
Very Dull conditions not ideal for long distance shots
The Puffin was about 75 meters off shore.

Great shots as always Colin still no sign of these birds below wick castle yet but will keep my eyes open :D

Ace photos, how are the numbers doing? I have not seen a puffin yet. I hope to get a look at the cliffs with you soon.

With Puffins it is to early to say kas.
I've been seeing the odd Puffin for about 14 days.
The gathering of other birds off Lybster is about the same as last year.
Not seen to many Gannets going North so far this year but i have seen the odd Skua go by.
We do have Pheasants residing in the Harbour area 1 male and 2 females.
On the walk back i did see a Robin singing is little heart out, a Blue tit, Chaffinch a Stonechat and something that looked like a female sparrow but looked bigger and was very dark grey around the neck and side of head.

i love descriptive identifications lol. Ok best guess from the description, from me, would be immature snow bunting, but there are so many to choose from

I have seen no skuas at all here in Thurso Bay and only saw my first Gannet movements this morning. About 30 in various groups heading East.

What I did see was large groups of gulls feeding far off shore on Thursday evening. As I say it was far, and I was looking with the scope. No idea what they may have been feeding on. However at least there is something out there.
