Computer does not recognise Micro SD Cards

Has anyone else had this problem.

I bought a 4gb Integra micro sd card and was able to transfer information from my computer onto the micro sd card (through a T-Flash card reader) with no problem.
Now however the computer doesn't recognise it.

I have bought a new Mikomi carder reader and new 1gb Kingston card just in case either was faulty and still the computer doesn't recognise any combination of them.

With the Mikomi card reader the computer assigns a drive letter, but says the card needs formatted. When I try and format the card, it says there is no disc in the drive.

My system is Windows XP Professional, Operating system Version 5.1.2600.

I have looked in Device Manager and everything seems to be enabled, but dont really know enough about systems to be messing around with them.

I have turned the computer off, unpluged and then started up again with no effect.

Is this something that can be fixed, and if so any recommendations of who to fix it.

Have you tried the card reader / cards in another computer? That would be the first thing to try.

Then I would head on over to windows update to make sure that you have the latest updates. I would choose to install all custom ones too for a situation like this.

I tried the card readers on another computer. The T-Flash card reader was not recognised by the other computer. The Makomi card reader was assigned a drive letter, but the disk could not be read.

I tried the Kingston micro sd card adapter in my computer's sd card reader and it worked. The Integra sd card adapter does not. But now, my sd card from my camera, which I have never had any problem with before, is not recognised the sd card reader on my computer!

I have updated all the windows programs and software.

Dont know why some are working and some are not. It seems strange, but looks like I might just have to live with it.

I've had a similar problem with a T-flash reader - worked fine then suddenly stopped. Is recognised as a USB device but has a yellow circle/black exclamation mark against it in the Device Manager. No amount of coaxing or registry cleaning go to back and it wouldn't work on other PCs either.

I'm theorising that inserting a T-flash card into the reader, while it was plugged in, has somehow managed to short out something rendering it unuseable.

Lesson learned - bought new reader and now remove the reader when swapping T-flash cards.
