Went out to Skerray Village Hall for a 40th Ruby Wedding Party on Friday and got these on the way (I left slightly early!). Blown out on the direct sun light but nice sky. I do also love these hills. Nice geometry!! :-))

Second shot looking at Bettyhill accross the beach. Love the light during sunset.

Very nice!

Was that with a 40D and 10-22mm?

No.2 looks like it could use a levels tweak. Did you avoid the sun while metering no.1?

:)

Riffman - Yes, 40D with Sigma 10-20mm

Boozeburgler - Levels look good at this end for No.2 and ND Grad used for No.1, as I said I was on my way to a Party and should really have stayed until the sun was in a better position and not so direct. I was surprised how well the shot came out to be honest (the clouds just have that "close encounters"/ink in water film vibe!!) Anyway, thanks for your comments.

Wonderful light Deemac! Shame about the burnt out area... You deffo should have stayed longer :-)
I can well see a good photo with a portrait crop just before that super bright sun area starts... maybe you even have got one with the little puddle in the foreground?

I never realised that it is Bettyhill that you see from that part of Skerray there :-)

What a great sky in no:1, I like the colours in no:2.

This was another shot taken looking West into the setting sun (suffering from less blow-out)

Oach, now you're just showing off deemac:). The burst of colours is fantastic. I've tried to do that myself a few times but always failed, so I assumed a good lens flare like that was not possible.
