It says we can send the entire Rolling Stones from the UK to Japan in under 2 seconds!

Now that is an excellent use for the new technology.

Uh.....hang on,...damn.

They mean their entire back catalogue of work - not the guys themselves:~(.

intresting....wonder when ''red button" day is?

Me too ciderally..quite exciting!

I hope at least one of our Orgers has their head round the subject so that we lesser mortals can ask questions.:)

It's over hyped, over here, and over due!

However without doubt things will be speeding up here in the UK over the next few years - http://www.btplc.com/21CN/index.htm

BT's 21st Century Network will make quite a difference to the speed we all experience, the aim I believe is to provide upto 24Mbs, but I don't think too many people will get that speed.

As to timescales, Caithness is one of the last scheduled areas, I believe late 2011.

For any real speed increase we will have to wait and see if the government will chip in and help finance a fibre optic network for the whole of the UK. While we still rely on copper (and for some unlucky people aluminium) cables then we are never going to see any massive leaps in speed.
