Why didn't it work? Would it be the same reason Capitalism doesn't work, people keep mucking it up?

Yep. Communism goes against human nature. End of story, really.

I think you maybe have that the wrong way round actually...more like selfish Human Nature goes against Communism.:~(

Nope, I don't have that the wrong way round at all. It's the selfish human nature that ensures that true communism cannot possibly work.

Edit: 6 & 2x3s, really.

Erm...so you agree with what I said then?

I think Capitalism doesn't work properly because of extreme greed resulting in the HAVES wanting more and more at the expense of others and at all costs (A case of the cream and the scum coming to the top)

Communism doesn't seem to work because those in power want even more power and the trappings of power (all people are equal, except some people are more equal than others), so the "ordinary" people rebel.

All these social ideals are great in theory but as previous posters have said, you can rely on people to mess it up.

Cliche: if you're not a communist at 20 you have no heart...if you're not a capitalist at 40 you have no brain....
..seems about right, like most cliches.

In my case it was 45 - ish.

Animal Farm pretty well sums it up. Brokencross, well summed up.

There are many sound ideologies. It's only when you introduce people into the equation that it always goes horribly wrong.

As long as people have independant thoughts, there will never be a 'perfect' system.

Capitalism: I've got it and you can't have it.

Socialism: If I haven't got it, you can't have it either.

hey ho........

Indeed, human nature.

There will always be those who seek power and status over others. I can't think of one religion or society that cannot function without authority and power being placed in the hands of a few.

These opportunities to control, or gain status, or wealth will always be taken by those so inclined towards self-interest.

I can iamgine Communism working.....in the distant future on a far off world where the effective admisntration that checks everything and every one is an uncorruptle super computer, though would make that piont that i would make sure it's not an A.I. as im pretty sure they would be just a corruptable as us mere humans.
