A mate's bitch has just tured 6 months old and blood spots have started appearing on her rug. She is very clingy at the moment too.

I assume she is going into heat, does anybody have and tips or advice on how to make sure she is well and comfortable.

Also what are the pros and cons of speying?

Rob, yes she's coming into season, just let her get on with it, it's not an illness.
As for speying, if he wants to breed from her don't spey, if he's not wanting to breed from her and can't be arsed to clean up after her get her done, best half way between 1st and 2nd season.

Yeah good point. Poor pups :( Although he is careful and wouldn't let her get pregnant.

apparantly speying changes their personality and makes them less affectionate?

Ah ok, sorry the vet told me speying often changes their closeness with the owner. Was jst worried she would lose her affection.

No need to say sorry Rob ! Just never heard that before. Must be gen though if it was the vet that said it.
He'll just need to weigh up the pros and cons of spaying and decide. :)
