Clothes Bank

Does anyone know what happens to the clothes we put in the clothes bank.
Are they shredded up and recycled or are they washed and re-used.?

Is it better to put the good stuff to a charity shop, and the bad stuff in the clothing bank and what about the holy jumpers should they go in the bin or the clothing bank.

I always assumed the clothes that went to the recycling depot were actually recycled ie shredded etc.
If I have good quality clothing I tend to put it to the charity shops. I usually put the 'rags' to the recycle bins! Hope no-one was expecting a better quality from my clothing recycling efforts?:eek:
