My brother has been overcharged for 13 years .He got a house which had electric total heating (which was taken out before he took over the property).
He told the Hydro by letter that the house was now central heated from a back boiler when he took over the property and had questioned the very high bills (sometimes £300 a quarter)since. Now he has gone over to gas with the hydro ,the call centre person stated he had been on the wrong tariff ie Ecomony 7 for the last 13 years .They did however offer him a GOOD WILL payment off £28.00 with the statement as they could only go back 12 months and that the over payment was now lost ..

Dread to think how much we're being ripped off.
We were paying about £50 a week for years so we told Hydro to take the meter away and bill us instead. Our first bill for a quarter was over a grand. Found out that we'd be paying E7 even though there were no E7 heaters fitted anymore and Hydro reckoned that was costing us more. We still use about £35 a week though and we're only in temporary accommodation on site while we build. We went back to a meter so at least we could see how much we are spending and try to lessen it. Funny thing is, no matter how much we reduce our output, we still seem to be spending bucket loads.
Incidentally, our main source of heat at the moment is a log burning fire. We have electric heaters but only use them on timers in the girls bedrooms. We daren't use any others, so where our electric is going is beyond me!

Fuel is just such a rip off nowadays.
