An excellent bunch of guys let me photograph them unloading Sudringur. 'Tank' showed me close up some of the variety of fish that had been brought ashore.

This came from a nice box of red fish called, well, 'Red Fish'.

These came ashore boxed and iced.

Again, I'm finding the people who work in Scrabster harbour very pleasant and helpful. The harbour is a great place to go and see and experience new things. I had only ever heard of theses fish, never seen them.

Warning; keep out of the way of people who are working with cranes and moving vehicles.

But, visit the harbour to enjoy more of our local area.

Fascinating fish, but the size of the eyes suggests that it originates from deep water where fish are found infrequently and are very slow growing. Take your pictures while you can, because it is likely that these and similar types of fish will not be appearing in any market in a few years.

Yip, it's a Deep Sea Scorpionfish (Redfish), very rarely caught by Scottish boats (except the couple that still target Deep Sea Species). The Faroese boats tend to bring in a lot of deep sea species to Scrabster, but their stocks are arguably a lot healthier than ours.

Thanks guys. This is very useful info.

I would add too grumpyhippo's reputation as well, but the system keeps telling me I need to spread more 'reputation' (love) about first. I'd rather just be able to give good reputation to those who 'deserve' it [grumble grumble].[disgust]
