Looks 3D modelled or a composite image to me, though it is very striking non the less.

It`s an interesting and unique pic.
Is there any explanation as to what the white semi circle is ?
Is it an ice cloud ? or is it an optical illusion of the moon ?

Nice work, but somehow I doubt that it came out of a cam... it looks like terragen generated to me :-)
