On my XP desktop you have to go into
My computer
Local disk
Documents and settings
And then your windows user name
And there you will find a nice little star shaped icon called favorites just copy it, paste it on the laptop in the same place (if XP as well) and bobs you next door neighbour.

From memory (I prefer Firefox)
Internet Explorer:
File: Import and Export
Follow prompts to export Favourites to a file.
Make sure you note (or choose) where that is to be stored.
Copy over to new laptop (memory stick or whatever)
Preumably Internet explorer on Vista will also have
File: Import and Export
Import the copied favourites file.
I prefer Firefox
Thought I should amplify the above statement.
I have lots of work related bookmarks, and found it really annoying working on multiple machines:
Office PC desktop
Office Mac desktop
Workshop PC desktop
Home PC desktop
PC laptop
Mac laptop.
Answer: Use Firefox and install the Foxmarks add-on.
Bookmarks (favourites) synchronise via an internet website which can also be accessed to give them on a web page if I'm on yet another machine.
Magic.
Also love the add-ons:
Adblock plus
Flashblock
Makes web browsing much faster with some sites :)

Due what I said in previous post, then on the Vista laptop
Go into my computer
Local disk
Find a folder called users, here you should find two folders public and your profile
Go into your profile and here you will find your favorites folder
Hope this helps.
