Is this a result of the upgrade work on the exchange or am I just lucky this morning?

Is there any site where you can find out what maximum speed you could expect on your line ???
rather than actual speed you're getting.

If you try http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php it'll tell you a lot of information about each exchange - some may say Exchange Activate 512kbps max, others not showing a max against the ADSL green light will probably be 2.2Mbps.

If your exchange has a green light against ADSL Max then that is should be 8Mbps max.

Just waiting for Thurso to go 21CN in 2011 - that should take services to around the 24Mbps.

BTW just about had a heart attack when I noticed that Wick was apparently the first exchange to go 21CN on this page (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/21cn_overview.php). Then clicked the Wick link to find out it was Wick in Wales :D
