Just got hold of a Canon 40D and went out for a wander on Sunday (though the weather was poor). So the challenge was to come up with some images of interest. Visited Skarfskerry first then Dunnet Forest. Had black in white / textures in mind during the trip. Any use?

An excellent set of photos deemac! I've tried to do the log thing myself, but they were rubbish. I like the old and new house photo - well, they are all good. The old house with the bench infront of it needs a faint, ghostly figure sitting on the bench.

Thanks for all the comments folks - I'm fairly new to this Black & White lark (though I'm ignoring my college days in the dark room here!!) but it definately makes you think in a totally different way while out taking digital camera based shots. Highly recommended if you've not yet tried it yourself.

Also, nothing better for getting you out than trying a new toy for the first time (40D - sorry, after I posted this I thought it looked like a reference to a bra size, not a camera!!!)

Anyway, glad some of you liked some of the images.:Razz

Love the shots of Dunnet woods Deemac, so much so I had a wander there this afternoon, if only to keep the Nikon end up. I get nervous of a man and his Canon on the prowl....lol,lol, lol.

Grumpyhippo,
Nice shots. I did look over at the eagle carving but didn't take any images (I'm sure I got this on a previous visit some time ago).

The forest is a goldmine for the budding photographers I think. (I've got a thing about trees, and there are so few in Caithness compared to other areas).

I did think it looked as if a battle had been going on between the wind and the trees (and the trees lost!!). Keep up the good work. I'm sure I'll see you at the next camera club meeting.:Razz
