The photo taken last week at the end of a night observing Saturn and the Moon at the 1st Thurso Cub Scouts. The observing session was done as part of their work towards them obtaining an astronomy badge.

great photo astroman....what did you use...

For this particular evening I used my 4" diameter short focal length refractor (http://www.sky-watcher.net/swtinc/product.php?id=40&class1=1&class2=105 (http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://www.sky-watcher.net/swtinc/product.php?id=40&class1=1&class2=105)) and my trusty 4 megapixel olympus camera coupled to the telescope eyepiece (afocal projection method).

This setup was portable, allowed the cub scouts a reasonable view of the Moon and Saturn and the ability to take a few quick photos of the Moon. Thankfully the weather was good on the night :)
