Perhaps this will interest some of you.

Gwynne Dyer, the author of Future: Tense. The Coming World Order makes an interesting theory that the War on Terror is just one vicious cycle.

The idea is that, terrorists haven't attacked the United States since 9/11/01 because, the current War on Terror drives up support and attention to the terrorist groups which are being "fought" against. It was said that 9/11 started this cycle and that it was predicted that this cycle would happen.

Having said this, a withdrawal by the American Military would lead to more terrorist attacks on US soil to raise the terrorist regimes' support after it begins to fall after some time. There was little/less support for these regimes before 9/11. Spectacular attacks like 9/11 and nuclear attacks on US soil would rouse war and start the cycle all over again.

Thoughts?
