...as the tattoo thread has generated some heat, and a little light...I was minded to muse my total lack of embellishments. Jewellery ugh..the very thought for a man. For instance. How many folk adorn themselves with precious metal. I don't even sport a wedding ring...and eschew the ddubious benefits of a wrist watch. Incidentally, aren't those blingy ones truly dreadful? If yer gonna wear a clock keep it minimalist eh? You don't really need one and if you're stuck for the time there's usually some mug handy whose got one.

Ear-rings? no way - I don't like them on lasses much let alone blokes. They're not needed. Ears are fine enough without dangling cheap bits from 'em. Expensive bits are even worse!

Medallions and chunky necklaces are the pits surely? There's always a counter view and that's what I'm looking for here.

You dont consider your motorbike an embellishment Percy?

My only embellishments are the glasses I have to wear to be able to see. Other than that just the clothes on my back - and even they are minimalist - just shorts and a t-shirt nearly all the time.

Not at all - anyway I flogged it ! - now I'm on 'ere .
It was a life enhancer, rather than an embellishment.;)

I wear glasses for reading and on 'ere Nick...I'm gettin close to needing them for driving. I don't describe them as an embellishments and feel they're more of a curse! I've used two pairs as a cushion before now and sat on 'em. I really dislike having to wear specs. Used to have eyes like a lavatory rat en all!

Now I would agree with you, but others, perhaps others with tatoos would say that an old guy on a motorbike does not look as good as a young guy (or girl for that matter).

Um.....

According to wiktionary:

Enhance (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Enhance) = improve something by adding features
Embellish (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/embellish) = To make something sound or look better or more acceptable than it is in reality - To make more beautiful and attractive; to decorate

So, what's the difference? ;)

Then I'd agree with them 100% per cent.
Another reason I flogged it - although age would not stop me buying another one...if I can get my hips around it the next bike will be almost as old as I am - then I think it's fine.

If you read back Sapph I titled the thread 'personal' meaning of the person.
What I was driving at with the bike was lifestyle enhancement - if I dangled it from me ear lobe I'd be in lumber.(more likely A & E)
I appreciate your input though - glad I'm not talking to meself.;)

I take the view of Percy but just for myself, I don't judge what should be for others in that respect, but who knows what the future will do to me.
Since there have been humans there has been some form of adornment either jewellery or tattoos. My family is historically quaker so there must be where I get get my minimalist adornment stance from.

That wasn't just input, I was picking on you ;)
But now that I have the wonderful mental image of you wandering about with a motorbike hanging from your earlobe, I'll stop. Lol

I like silver or gold jewellery, not plastic (with one or two exceptions)
I don't like big, chunky jewellery.
I do wear a dainty gold (plated) watch

I also have 3 tattoos as stated in the other thread (My V5)

I have my ears pierced once (used to be 3 times)

I also have piercings in my tongue, belly button, nipple and um... somewhere else...

Hint: It might make you cross yer legs and wince.

So, yes, I guess you could say I like personal embellishments ;)

I think it makes us who we are with the wearing of jewelry, give a bold statement if you like.
I myself have 3 piercings in each ear, my nose , and tongue. i also have 3 tattoos which are not hidden. I started all this when i reached the big 40 ! Jan x

I guess that makes me an understatement then Paris. Amen to that !

Whats a tragus when it's at home Sapphire? - is it one of the rude bits?

When you joss it they'll not bury you - merely weigh you in !

Ones tragus (pl. tragi) is the little flap of cartilage in front of the ear canal.

So I have both tragi pierced? I did deliberate over the spelling and couldn't make my mind up LOL

Nope, not rude, it's part of the ear. But, that isn't me, you know why? Because it hurts there and that's saying something coming from me

When you joss it they'll not bury you - merely weigh you in !Don't give them ideas, they're all bad enough already in my house!

Although I'm a big tattoo fan, I'm not bothered about jewelry.

Small understated pieces look fine, but I really don't like beeeg hoopy earrings or knuckle dragger rings.

I have my ears pierced 5 times and also my eyebrow.
I have 3 rings that I wear ( 2 on one finger and one on another ), a necklace that I treasure dearly and a watch.

I wear the same jewellery all the time... I have a jewellery box but its empty lol
