I presume that is the "Black Rock"; one of my favourite views. The harbour seems very empty but I know we are not seeing the whole view...time I was back in Portree....anyone want to look after a mad spaniel?

Just bring him over ,there's plenty of "mad" spaniels over here too.
I'm sure you'd find a BB that would take him.:D

I'm afraid I travel by bus and they don't allow dogs on Citylink! I did take him over once when I borrowed a car and we stayed over on the West of Skye in a "shed". Others would maybe call it a chalet but I know better!

By the way, it was falling in love with a spaniel called Moss on Skye that prompted me to get one myself!

Anyway I am straying from the thread; I don't have anything to upload the pictures of my view; I still use the good ol' steam camera! But it is a wonderful view; trees and fields (which can be filled with various animals) bay, lighthouse, headland.....wonderful!

This is the only view I could find (just outside my bedroom window). I was experimenting with reflections/self portraits that day!! It gives an impression of the area just outside. All my best views are from the back of the house.

Highlander what a beautiful view you've got.

Deemac,that was very clever.

Twiglet, just pinch a view and pretend you open your bedroom curtains to that every morning.;)

I was going to post a picture, then I thought, naaa, they'll all have seen a street before.

I'm jealous, I just love those views.

@ Deemac, interesting approach, now you've given me something else to think about.

is not bad. I am forced to sit in bed in the mornings, with a cup of coffee and have to watch this view as it never stays the same for long.

This is quite a stunning view. I get the feeling of being high up with a 'straight down a long way' sort of motif about it. I don't like heights and it's making me queasy.

I live in the town and am surrounded by houses and the odd tree, so I'm really jealous of the views posted so far in this thread. That said the Caithness skies above the neighbouring houses do provide some interesting scenes from time to time...

I love all your views.
Your sun sets are amazing astroman
We live on top of a hill that looks down over the bay in Portree and indeed its never dull.
The waves crash against the rocks on the otherside even when there's no wind. The cobbler and his family use to live there and some old ruins can still be found.
In the summer the bay is full of different boats and yachts, with the occasional cruise liner thrown in.
The kids have the Toppers and Lasers out to play.

Like I say,I'm spoilt.:D

Thanks for the kind comments cuddlepop and unicorn.

As is the case with many photos I take, nature deserves the credit - I'm just happy I sometimes have a camera handy to capture the scene.

I assume that wall belongs to your neighbours which is a shame as you could have a lovely mural of something pastoral done...you could even incorporate the tree so it was a bit 3D and changed with the seasons.

I paint murals and a blank canvas that size makes me quite delirious with pleasure...my brush fingers are twitching!:D

good luck! I have a passing knowledge of Croydon and can well understand the appeal!

The bay looks awfully familiar and like it is probably in north Sutherland somewhere is that correct ?

I expect that someone is going to be busy sorting out that old croft house when they get here though! You'll be wanting a good heating system for one of those old, cold buildings.

Good luck getting all the arrangements sorted!

Ah, Farr beach... great! :-)

Ah, Armadale beach... great :-))) ( I thought it was Farr.... )

cazmanian_minx
18-Feb-08, 11:58
It's Armadale.

The croft house isn't the one we're buying, that actually belongs to the neighbours.

When OH was growing up in Thurso, Armadale was always where he aspired to live - he's been bouncing round like a small boy ever since he heard that our offer was accepted! He's been in the south since he left Dounreay to join the Navy 22 years ago and he's absolutely over the moon to be coming home again.

Some of these views have made me feel particularly envious....an emotion I don't feel often.
We look upon other houses - the sides of 'em and the fronts of 'em...the consolation is that everything one could ever need is within walking distance. Except of course emotional uplift from a view like yours c/pop.
Thanks for sharing.
