Help please?

Daughter has just arrived home from inverness with shiny new laptop. Mr Cp rapidly going bald trying to connect wirelessly to internet. Using BT homehub system can someone give complete idiot guide to doing this plese?

Ltop shows that a wireless connection is present but the homehub settings on the Dtop says no wireless present AAARRGGGH

You should have the CD which came with the BT hub. It automates the process.

Put it in the laptop CD drive, make sure the wifi is on on the laptop, and follow the routine to add it to the network. Doddle. The best thing about btinternet is the installation CD; it's a work of genius.

Or try the shorthand way; click on the message on the laptop which says it's found a wifi network. That should IIRC open a dialog box which asks for the network code or identifier; you may have to type it in twice. You'll probably find the code on your Home Hub on a sticker on the Hub; it'll look something like

- just a mix of letters and numbers. Type it in carefully. Repeat if necessary (it'll tell you). A message should pop up to tell you you're connected; open the laptop browser and Robert should indeed be your father's brother. Might take two seconds to allocate an IP address to the laptop.

He's done all that so I'm now going to hunt for the disc.
