Tried to phone D.Cormack the jewellers to day with very little success.Firstly I look through all the phone books, local and yellow pages eventually resorting to contacting 118 118.The outcome of the conversation with the operator was that D.Cormack are x drectory ,this surprsed me as I thought any business in this day and age would be looking for trade not shuting the door on it or should I say tuning the phone off on it.I wonder has any one else had a problem like this .

That is such a British way of doing things. I remember an American living in London writing an article about how he always used to buy a particular type of biscuit to have with his tea, from the wee shop on the corner next to his house. One day he went in and couldn't find them. When he asked when they would be getting some more, the lady who ran the shop said "Oh we stopped stocking those. People were always asking for them, it was such a nuisance."
