I noticed that there were hundreds of starlings on Thurso beach today. They were feeding off the insects on the decaying seaweed.

Just a thought, if the council cleared up the seaweed then a foodstuff for the starlings would be removed. Then they wouldn't stay around the town. It would be an eco-friendly way of getting rid of the starlings without drastic measures.

Also, an unsightly mess and smell would be removed also...

yeah good idea in theory, but in practise, its pretty rubbish. for a start, the council won't pay for such a stupid task(and i'm sure people would complain about paying people to do this anyway). there's more important things that money can be spent on

Pity nobody makes tangles anymore! used to do this in orkney, £125 a tonne back in '90, mind you takes some work stacking and loading! :(
