This random thought just popped into my head  and it's annoying me now.

I remember -from when I was a wee girl in Caithness - often hearing the expression "you can make a kirk or a mill o' it!"

Does anybody know where that saying originates -or what it really means??? :confused

Thanks, Angela. Not heard that for years, it used to be a favourite saying of my Granny's, normally when I wanted to do something that she didn't approve! ;)

That's how I remember it, gollach. I used to think it was all one word and wondered what a "kirkoramill" was and how exactly I could make it  ....but imagined it had to mean something rather messy like a dog's dinner ....[lol]
