Thank you for all the photos of the celebrations on the front page.
There was one well-kent face I spotted - an old Weeker Iain Sutherland. Here he was once again enjoying a dram with some friends. 'Your good health Iain'
Now I read that this is the 40th Bonfire Iain has organised at the Riverside ! Well done, and many thanks.

Indeed thanks have to be given to all who organise such events. Do you know how lucky you are in Caithness at this time of year ?

I'm sure i read the event Iain organises is at the Bignold Park, he said it was dying out and wasn't sure how many more bonfires they'd have there.

Quote --
"The New Year in Wick was also signalled by the lighting of the traditional bonfire lit at the riverside. It was the 40th fire organised by local historian Iain Sutherland."

It certainly used to be in the Bignold Park, maybe this is an error.
