That's a staggering picture nirofo but how on earth did you manage such a clear shot? Peter Scott would definetly approved.

Hi Lizz

They were photographed in Estonia where they occur in the thousands during migration. Estonia is almost on the same latitude as Caithness, but the weather is generally much better giving clear skies for much of the time, ideal for birds in flight photo's. It does have its moments though, we had a 2 day period of freezing weather and 5cm of snow in late May the last time we were there.

No, they are Barnacle Geese, they occur in Estonia in their thousands on their way to the breeding grounds at migration time.
