It is all coming out now, a bit like Jefferey Archer eh? I wonder if he will also renege on paying back the compo if found guilty?

Perjury is it not; at the moment?

I don't think Sheridan was ever accused of picking up streetgirls at King's Cross.

Even if Tommy is guilty, Archer is a villain on an entirely different scale.

Are you suggesting that the media may counter claim libel?

Interesting.

Besides, this is hearsay.

It is down to his word against his word as recorded/noted, there are no 100% reliable witnesses nor good evidence that he actually 'swung' are there? We all tell fanciful untruths sometimes, perhaps he was jesting?

Even if there are, and he is guilty, I don't see the tabloid involved emerging with a different reputation than it already has, it has hardly been damaged, imho.

I'm not a great fan of Sheridan and have no idea whether he is innocent or guilty of perjury but, if his account of the way his house was searched is correct, I do wonder whether these rather dramatic police raids are necessary, particularly where children are involved. Surely they must be able to search a house without so many police rushing around?

Every time I see one of these raids on tv (real not drama) I can't help thinking that while they obviously have to arrive unannounced, does it really require all this shouting, knocking down doors, dragging people out of bed etc. I'm not saying that's exactly what happened with Sheridan but it does seem to happen a lot.

Sheridan has always been very good at playing the 'oppressed' card.

He always reminds me of the bolshie peasant in Monty Pythons' Holy Grail - "ooh, don't you oppress me!".

I think the man is a complete arse when it comes to politics, but I respect him for his excellent speechmaking skills, commitment and drive.

Guilty as sin, if you ask me;)

I'll go and build the gallows in the morning.

I was talking to our very own 'Tommy Sheridan' (Gordon Campbell) in Wick today.

Wouldn't it be fun to put them into a debate against each other......

I remember at the time of the trial his old pals the SSP published their account of the Sheridan affair on their web site. Remember that the heart of this case is centred around conflicting evidence given by SSP senior members, ie some say he confessed to indiscretions others denied he ever made the satements attributed to him. Sheridans brother in law is also supposedly implicated in this as he is cited as being with him in the swingers club in Manchester !!. The SSP account ran for nearly 40, 000 words and was a lenghty attack on what they called "the cult of leaderism". In historical terms almost every party of the hard left has supposedly suffered from "leadersim" ie the rise to prominence of a charismatic leader who the public pick up on as the "pary" thus minimising the percpetion of the party as a whole. Solution : Get rid of the leader !!! My gut feeling is that Sheridan has been stitched up by former collegues, its either that or the guy is a 100% lying chancer, I dont think theres any in between here.
