My favourite Christmas Carol this year is 'Carol of the Bells'. My favourite Christmas song is 'Baby, Please Come Home', I forget who sings it but it's on Phil Spector's Christmas and at the begining of Gremlins when Billy is trying to start his car. Lovely!

Fairytale of New York and I believe in Father Christmas.

Rolf Harris' Two Little Boys stank the place out. However, I hear a tiny whisper of an updated version for this year. Apparently it goes:-

"Two little boys had too little toys, each was a greedy sod.
Non-Gayly they played each Summers day. Obnoxious both, of course.
One little chap said "this toy is crap". Broke off his Barbie's head.
Wept out of joy then cried out "Ahoy!!", as his young single parent said:

"Did you think I would see you crying, when there's room on my card for two.
Climb up here Jack, we'll soon be trying, Mastercard and Visa too.
When you grow up, I'll still be paying it off and the house simply won't be ours.
And I wonder if I'll remember tanning your erses for hours."

Would someone like to define what a 'Christmas Song' is to me please....Because as popularity has showen it can be a pop tune or a traditional hymn.

So is a Christmas song a tradtional hymn or pop tune that mentions xmas or the spirit of xmas released at Christmas time,

or is it some song/tune that has had some affect or thought on a person during the festive season.

Lazy, christmas song could be a pop song or traditional, just one that gets wheeled out at christmas as opposed to the rest of the year.

'I'm a 4th rate, clapped out reigndeer' is one of my faves still (never heard a recording of it tho) but 'O Holy Night' is still a favourite too.

Kirsty Macoll + Pogues and Greg Lake, same as a lot of other peeps on here.

Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull.

A Christmas Song by Jethro Tull.

In The Bleak Midwinter and, the best Christmas carol of all tim, - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

I suppose back in Victorian times, everyone was sat online discussing whether new fangled carols should be classed as proper 'Christmas songs'.

personally, i would class a "christmas song" anything pop and "traditional" as a carol....
