I see the RSPB touting for funding to buy Broubster Leans to protect Greenland Wite-fronted geese and waders.

Perhaps they should let people know that the "peaceful haven" of BL is under threat from a whopping great wind farm, known as Baillie, not 2 miles away.

Do they not know?? Or are they in it too??

The RSPB rightfully recognises that the biggest threat to all species is climate change (which threatens a third of all species this century) and that carefully sited windfarms can be very effective at mitigating climate change.

And it is exactly for this reason that the RSPB want to protect Broubster Leans.

This is the message on the RSPB appeal - well-sited wind farms are one thing, but Baillie is very close to this site. There are very few well-sited applications coming in - well-subsidised perhaps

Help us save Broubster Leans and the beautiful and varied wildlife that live here. Many of our best-loved species depend on these wetlands – protect this landscape and protect their homes.

I can't find such a message on the RSPB appeal.

I have googled it, and still don't find where they say the Baillie windfarm is too close.

Sorr6y - I was not very clear - the quote was the following :

"Help us save Broubster Leans and the beautiful and varied wildlife that live here. Many of our best-loved species depend on these wetlands – protect this landscape and protect their homes."

All windfarm proposals have to have the same bird studies done, which take over 3 years to compile and AFAIK there is no objection to Baillie windfarm as far as birds are concerned though there has been a concern raised over migratory geese on the east side of the proposed site.

Now which expert is saying that Baillie is too close to Broupster Leans?:confused

Don't know why you are worried about Baillie Wind Factory, there are three others closer in the pipeline.

North - Broubster Croft - 25 applied for.

East - Leurary Hill - 3 applied for.

West - Broubster Forrest - 57 applied for.

Thats the Leans just about surrounded.

Were a lot of geese in the Leans at the weekend.

Is this for real? Wind farms seem to go under a plethora of different names, so we are never sure what is going on.
SSE pulled out of another one very close to Broubster, because of the birds, but this does not mean that others will not have a go. The money is too good

No it isn't apparently.

I have checked on the CWIF website, and if they are accurate or up-to-date then you are wrong on all counts.
