After many a Liberal Summer, Australia is about to get a new government and a new Prime Minister (http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://forum.caithness.org/go.php?url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7111479.stm). The BBC report that 'Correspondents say key changes will be the start of a troop pullout from Iraq and the signing of the Kyoto protocol on climate change.'
The political wheel is turning and the composition of the Coalition of the Willing is getting dizzy. The USA and UK invaded Iraq with the support of Australia and Spain whilst France and Germany kept a dignified and disapproving distance. Since then Spain, and now Australia, have elected new governments and the UK has a new Prime Minister; all have distinct and 'less willing' views than their predecessors. Meanwhile, Germany and France have turned and elected leaders who seem keener to kowtow to the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue than their predecessors.
The political world is a fluid place and it will be interesting to follow developments in the future.
In the meantime, I wish our Aussie members all the best and hope your future holds no worries. :)
