William Simpson

Trying to find the parents of William Simpson.William was married to Bessy Rosie in 1797 on Stroma.I have been told by a reliable source that they were James Simpson and Catherine Manson but have also seen others as having them as John Simpson and Mary Sinclair.Does anyone have proof as to which set of parents are the right ones.Any help greatly appreciated.

It looks as if your James Simson/Catherine Manson connection is probably the correct one.
Bessy Rosy's parents (according to the IGI) were Hugh Rosy and Catharine Sinclair and William and Bessy's children were:
James
John
Catharine
Hugh
Mary
Helen
Elizabeth
Malcolm
James Alex.

Thanks for your reply Dusty.Still a little unsure.I looked up the birth record of both Williams on Scotlandspeople and the William born to James and Catherine was in Mey and the one born to John and Mary didn't give a location.One born in 1771 and the other in 1772.I'd like to find some document that would give me proof.I take it by your profile picture you are also a Simpson.

Thanks for that Shandy,still not sure which William is mine.I have a copy of birth cert. for both Williams and a marriage cert. for William to Bessy Rosie but neither give a clue to which set of parents are correct.I'm leaning to James Simpson and Catherine Manson but can't find any proof.Thanks again for your help.
