Any ideas on how to stop our kitten stripping our kitchen wallpaper off.
He's particularly partial to it because it is textured.
He has a scratchy tent but prefers to decimate the walls!!

I got our cat a giant cat tree that goes from floor to roof and as yet it has kept her totally amused. It takes up a lot of space but saves a fortune on wallpaper and furniture.

Hi Evelyn, we had that problem as well and a friend told us to buy 'Sticky Paws' its a see through cellofane strip that you stick on to the wallpaper and the cat (or kitten) won't like the feel of it as it's also sticky on the outside(its just like cellotape Evelyn) but sticky on both sides. Our cats definately don't like it and it is'nt unsightly either as it blends quite well on to the paper. We got it from our local pet store and i've seen it for sale online as well. You will however need to keep an eye on the kitten to see if she just moves to another piece of wallpaper and if she does, just do that bit with 'Sticky Paws' as well. Our cats got fed up and now only use the scratching posts. Good luck. ;)

If he has a place where he does it more often than others you could try sprinkling pepper on the wall and floor, they hate the smell. You can also get some spray that repells cats from doing things like this, all harmless to the cat.Other than that it is a case of change the wallpaper for something less textured....Good luck, hope you find a cure...
P.S you could try carpet on the walls as he seems to leave the carpet alone.HeHE

try cat claw stop - it is a citrus spray.
A friend of mine used it & it stopped his cat from scratching the furniture.

The best thing to do it to get a playmate for him as he will be too busy to scratch the walls then!

Thanks for all your ideas folks.
Will experiment with some of them.
Dont think I fancy the softclaws option and dont think our old cat would appreciate ANOTHER playmate! She does very well tolerating him at the moment......well barely tolerating him I should say!!!
Thanks again

Try pritt stick. Strange I know but cats hate anything sticky on thier paws. It won't mark the walls and will wash off with no damage, stays sticky for ages and won't damage anything that comes into contact with it.It's also cheap to buy and can be used for other things so no wasting your money on remedies that might not work. This worked for my cats and others :D

You could try using a water pistol or sprayer when you catch him at the walls they dont like that much either!
