Unwanted phone calls?
Like a lot of folk we're on the TPS, so when we received a call from a company offering a service, we told them we were on the TPS list and they should not call us.. "oh no sir the TPS rules don't apply to us" So after getting their number and who they were wrote to the TPS and told them they were 'toothless' - Just had their reply, looks like they are a bit miffed?

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you four your email.

In response to your question regarding the TPS being Toothless, please note that it is not the role of the Telephone Preference Service to enforce the regulation. TPS registers consumers preference onto the 'national do not call' register and investigates all alleged breach of the Privacy and Electronic (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.

We pass all the complaints received over to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), who are the UK independent supervisory authority reporting directly to the UK Parliament. It is the ICO's responsibility to look at non-compliant organisations and take appropriate action. If you wish to follow up on a complaint you have made, please contact the ICO directly. Their details are as follows:
The Information Commissioners Office
Address: Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, CheshirE, SK9 5AF
Tele: 01625 545 745
Fax: 01625 524 510
Email: mail@ico.gsi.gov.uk
Web: www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk (http://www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk)

As suggesting that you make a complaint and allowing us to investigate the company concerned is not an option, I am unable to advise of any coherent action.
