Hey folks,

Can anyone advise..

We are going to be installing oil heating.
We want to keep our coal fire also, The tank at the back of the fire for the hot water, Does that have to come out Or can you bypass it in anyway?

Cheers

You could use it to heat your hot water by a simple convection loop?

Its worth keeping the back boiler as an alternative way of heating water and a way of saving on the oil. At my last house I have 3 ways of heating water - the oil CH boiler, back boiler on a multi-fuel stove and electric immersion back-up!

CHeers,

i would like to keep the back boiler,
Is it expensive to convert it to the methods you've mentioned above?

We just treated the back boiler as a "bulge " in the pipe.

you could keep the boiler but would need to repipe the system to incorperate a neautrliser which would take the heat away from the header tank in the loft in the event that u had both oil and solid fuel boilers going if u dont ul have a sauna in the loft due to the cold storage tank boiling over:eek:
