I have been down at the South Head beside the Trinkie and have noticed someone has put in bolts and anchors for Sport Climbing, does anyone know about this? Is this part of a club? I am an amature climber and would love to find out more and to get people and kids involved.

The ATC were there with the Coastguards on Tues night, and the fire brigade and coastguard were there on Thurs night - sounds like exercises to me. I am not aware of a climbing club, but there is a climbing wall in the Scout Hall in Wick - never tried it so do not know how suitable it is.

Hi Chelsea

I am one of a few protagonists in Caithness trying to establish new routes in the area. We usually explore trad routes around Sarclet, Mid Clyth and Latheron.
These places are pretty unaccessable to most, so we set up routes with bolted protection and anchors at Wick for anyone wanting to try them with the correct equipment.
If you need any more info on the Caithness cliffs just send me a PM

Cheers
Raymond
