I am following a tip that my family might have been related to the Green's of Stroma although we hail from Flotta, Orkney. Another member kindly sent me the pages from the book of Stroma by Helen Green who lived at Quoyloo in Stroma. In her pages she mentions that her father's mother was from Flotta.
Her fathers name was James Andrew Green and her mother was Katie Wares.
So I am on a quest to find out who James's mother was from Flotta. Now James and Katie had their child Helen in 1939, so I would imagine that they were married a year or two before that. Helen mentions in her pages that her grandmother's (maternal) name was Eldie Wares, and that her father's aunt was a Jess R Sinclair who lived at Falligoe. Her father assisted the bard Donald Banks, and he had an uncle who lived in Stromness.
This family did have definate connections to the Orkney's and if anyone can give me some names that might help in my research to see whether or not this might have been who we were connected to in Stroma that would be wonderful.
