When it comes out - The Orange Box (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Orange_Box).

I wouldn't know....i'll stick to the well priced hardware, wide range of games and superior online community of the Xbox 360. ORange Box is already out on 360....not that bad infact very good...although Bioshock wipes the floor with it.!

Or I may just read a book instead!

When Killzone 2 comes out it will be the best by miles.

Yes, but once the PS3 gets going both consoles will pretty much have the same games.

Once the PS3 gets going Microsoft will be close to releasing the new Xbox!

Fifa 08 is for people who dont like football that much. Too easy to play.
Pro Evo everytime.

Yea, Microsoft can afford to make the Xbox work. Whilst hte PS3 is the better console Sony can't throw the same amount of money at it as Microsoft can.

No, Fifa is for the true football fan. It is as close as you can get to real football.

The Orange Box has been pushed by for the PS3 by a week. Its not realeased on the 23rd.

I wouldn't mind getting that (have it on the Desktop downstairs already but its such a great combo of games. Worth it even just for Portal...)

Best game that I have is Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Never played an RPG before it but I am really enjoying it. Given me a good 60 hours of gamepaly so far, with that much more to go at least.

i think when assasins creed you will really see why they made the PS3.Also Haze whiich is exclusive to PS3 killzone 2 which will outcalss other games by miles.GTA5 was originally going to be a lot bigger than it is going to be. because the PS3 has blu ray which means the discs can hold 12 times as much info.however when the took this to microsoft they said they would have o put it on 2 discs for the xbox 360.However microsoft said no and as a result the game will be a lot smaller spoiling the game for PS3 owners.

Was never really that fussed for a PS3 until the other day when I heard the top gear track will be in GT5! Mind you plenty time to save up pennies since it's not out for a while!

Could someone answer me this? You get all your different size ps3's 40gb 60gb and 80gb. Is there anyway to attach an external hard drive so you have 500gb? Would make the 40gb more appealing. (although I did hear it's even less backwards compatible)

They took Backwards Compatibility out of the new models I think. I'm not sure really, it has been very badly publicised and is a bit of a PR mess. You can actually take out the Hard disk from a PS3 and replace it with a bigger one. Check out google for guides.

Plug it in and your good to go. You can also replace the internal hard drive without too much difficulty. Im good with my 60GB just now though. Only used up 20GB.

I completely forgot about Assassins Creed! So looking forward to that. And I didn't know that about GTA IV. Sounds like something microsoft would do. And as for the Top Gear track being in GT..... Well its on my wishlist now!!

the backwards compatability aka sympathy chip was taken out of the machines before uk release and instead releid on firmware updates which works fine. The big fuss at the moment is that the other countries are to have no sympathy chip in new machines and now they are also still to learn about firmware updates.everyone of my ps2 games work apart from manhunt which they will not try to get to work as its banned.

The new 40GB models are not going to have backwards compatibility with the PS2 full stop. :(

Im prity sure the latest ps3 with the lower sized hardrive cant play playstaion 2 games but can play playstion 1 thats why its cheaper because of the smaller hard drive and the ps2chip isnt in it. I think its awful why they dont make these games machine fully compitable

My PS3 plays my PS2 games and the 40gb model does too.
The european machines don't have the "Emotion Engine" PS2 chip in them but can still play PS2 games thanksto software emulation.

Are you sure about that? I am 99.9% positive that the new ones to be realeased once the 60GB models are out of stock will not be able to play PS2 games. They will be able to play PS1 games though. They don't have any PS2 hardware or software.

Positive about it mate.
They dont have the Emotion Engine PS2 chip but they can play PS2 games thru Firmware updates and Emulation software.
ALL the European machines since launch did not have the Emotion Engine chip as they were trying to make the console cheaper but it still works thru emulation.
I can play the games on mine and it doesn't have the "Emotion Engine" PS2 chip.

I can also play PS1 games on my pc without having any sort of chip from the PS1, its all done through EMULATION.

Go to www.emulator-zone.com and have a read up on emulation.

All stating that there is no backwards compatibility. And on sony's own site it states:

Will I be able to play my PlayStation 2 format games on my PLAYSTATION 3 40GB?

No, PLAYSTATION 3 40GB will not play any PS2 format titles.

But also says:

Will I be able to play my PlayStation format games on my PLAYSTATION 3 40GB?

Yes – in most cases, PlayStation format software should play fine on PLAYSTATION 3 40GB.

By the way, be careful witht the emulation though. You need to own a Playstation before you can legally use an emulator for its games. As well as actually owning the games before playing them.

Yeah you are right mate, it won't play PS2 games, bad move by sony in my opinion!
Its only £50 cheaper than the 60gb one now and they removed the Backwards Compatibility, the card readers and 2 USB slots, not to mention you get 2 games and an extra pad with the 60gb version.
Weird move i say.
Read a feature in GamesMaster last night.

well seeing as i put my playstation games into my dvd drive on my pc im quite sure i own them lol.
