Mccaugm, I do apologise, just read the result of the poll of the programme Location Location, and you are indeed correct.
Unlike Pepsi, I enjoy living in Auld Reekie, and I enjoy telling all the visitors who come on to the Edinburgh Tour buses all about our historic Capital.

Nowt wrong with the majority of folks in Wester Hailes Rheg, there is a small element that are bad. And they tend to give the place a bad name, this is common in every town or city, Niddrie, Craigmiller, Gilmerton, West Granton, Granton, Muirhouse, Bingham, Portobello, Gorgie, Dalry, Sighthill, and parts of Leith are just as bad or good as Wester Hailes

I Love our Capital City and like all Towns or Cities in Scotland they all have good and bad parts sometimes I feel sorry for the people who have lived in a certain part all there lives and get tarred with the stigma off belonging to a certain area

If I could pick anywhere in the world to live the rest of my life I'd pick Edinburgh in a heartbeat.

My sister has lived there most of her adult life and being a nice sibling I have visited her, the festival, the shops, zoo etc..almost every year. She has now moved to Holland which means my trips south are now somewhat curtailed.

I love it....she stayed in Glasgow whilst at Uni and I never took to the place the way I liked Edinburgh. This may be a little controversial but always found Edinburgh folk more friendly...

Well done Edinburgh, used to live there and still visit a lot but watch out - I think Inverness and Perth are pretty nice too although I guess Edinburgh's cultural attractions are hard to compete with.

And very good news that no scottish location featured in the 2 worst. as for Middlebrough - my son went to Uni there and dropped out - not the main reason for dropping out but M'bro is indeed the pits!

Well done Edinburgh and if i may say so very well deserved as well. Many a happy holiday and day trips have i had in auld reekie. I just love it. When my other half and i were younger we spent almost every public holiday and the odd weekend, not to mention our annual holidays there. We never tired of it for shopping, historical places and museums and lets not forget the military tattoo. Just magic.[lol]

Ah.. apparently the best place to live in England is where I am at present, though I am sure that many of us would disagree with the statement. Wokingham is very congested with traffic, several stores are closing down, there are too many places for the drunks to get... well, drunk, etc.

Wokingham came 20th in the UK. :confused

I stayed there a whilee in my early 20s. It's ok but a bit boring and the local accent is horribly harsh on the hearing. Best thing about Wokingham is the railway station, trains leave regularly for London. :D

Top in England was Winchester, a super wee place in the country with fabulous narrow old streets and a glorious cathedral.

You'd better enjoy Edinburgh while it's still there.
If the Caltongate development on the Canongate is allowed to go through you can kiss the Royal Mile goodbye. And that's only one of a large number of historic slites targetted by developers.
Anyone opposed to this should contace SOOT (Save Our Old Town)

The Canons Gait is only a tiny part of the owld toon Rich and only one little bit is going to be included in the redevelopment of the Caltongate.
The Royal Mile consists of 5 streets not just the Canons Gait to give it its origional & proper title.
In the 1990's a new hotel was built on the High Street " Raddisons" and it was designed to look like a 18th Century Street, visitors that I take round 4 times a day cannot believe how well it fits in to the surroundings.
I personally hope the Caltongate developement goes through, what does it replace, rat infested derilict warehouses and an old bus depot, that are eyesores.

Ah, the armchair critic has been on exaggeration pills again. It's a big development but that part of Edinburgh is a total mess and a waste of valuable space. Its impact on the Royal Mile will be small but its impact on Edinburgh will be great.

Edinburgh is a great place to live not only because of what it has but because it's less than an hour away from Glasgow, the only urban area in Scotland big enough to have that gut 'real dirty' city feeling that you get in London, Manchester, New York, Paris, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Berlin, ... I love it.

I'm not explaining this very well. Does anyone get me?
