(Mainly Farr Bay).

Considering how beautiful it is out here, there are surprisingly few photos online - possibly because to get some of the best shots you need to be pretty fit and enjoy a good hike!

I recently got a nice little Canon Ixus super-compact so it's small enough to keep with me at all times and in the last week or so the weather has been outstanding - far too nice to sit around indoors. :)

I've taken an awful lot of photos although these are just from the last week, mainly because I rather liked some of them. A friend of mine has criticised me for too many photos of rock formations. Tough! I like rocks!

Thanks Torvaig! it's very kind of you to say so :) Of course, I blame the camera for the fact that they're nice pics! - it's terrific camera for a point and click person like me; and since I got it I've switched loyalties to Canon. It makes it almost difficult to take a bad photo (although I can still do it!).

Thanks for sharing your photographs with us EMB123. They are excellent. Do feel free to post as many as you like, as often as you like. I for one will never tire of looking at the beauty of our landscapes. Much appreciated by many, i'm sure.;)

thank you all very much for your kind comments :)

I agree, this landscape is too beautiful to walk past and through without at least trying to capture some its moments in photographs. Even in its stormier moments it's amazing! I'm an uneducated perfectionist when it comes to photos :)

I am very very lucky. This is a view from my house of Torrisdale Bay. I say 'a view' because, like the weather, it changes every few minutes. I tend to work on my computer looking out over the bay so I see the rapid changes. A sunset can be over in seconds, or last for hours.

[Another fine day over Torrisdale/Farr]

I know that many people from the east do not make it much further west than Melvich. You really should come and get your toes in the sand on Farr/Torrisdale/Skerray/Talmine beaches. These beaches are clean and a great place to walk. Farr and Talmine are good for surfing.

Has anyone got photos (or old cards) of the sand spit/settlement area (as in photos above) as I wonder how the 'grassy knoll' has changed over the years.

psyberyeti, those photos are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing :)

I absolutely adore the photo with the snow especially! I agree with you that many folks over to the east don't venture so Farr very often and miss out on some spectacular views. Also I agree that the views can change completely within a matter of minutes, and that every few steps you walk the view would justify becoming the subject of another glorious photo or painting.

Do please also keep your photos coming, your home gives you a spectacular vista and your photos capturing it are wonderful!

Thank you very much for the supportive words emb123. I like taking photos and I probably have a photo for each changing face of the weather over the bays. I am trying to get more photos ready to put up, but I have feeble excuses for not doing it yet.

I have to admit that I too like rocks - but then, I am a bit boring.

Hello Jan, Thank you thank you thank you very much for your comment. I am getting a lot of good feed back on my photos - it is very much appreciated.

I have taken the liberty of adding a photo from Torrisdale bay which is a nice shot for a screen wallpaper.

Would you like a screensaver just for you? If you would like one, PM me and tell me what sort of photo that you would like. I will see what I can get. Wee wifie and daughter off to Aberdeen this weekend to take red cross parcel to son at Uni. I will be left on my own (appart from the ghost) so I need a project to keep me out of mischief.
